The Village of Yesteryear, operated by the Steele County Historical Society, is a setting of fifteen structures where you can experience what life was like in Owatonna and Steele County at the turn of the 20th Century. The village hosts a history Extravaganza in July.
There are two log cabins, railroad station and a caboose from Steele County dating back to the 1850's, general store/post office, fire station, farm machinery building, blacksmith shop, country school, Dunnell mansion built in 1868, and the St. Wenceslaus of Moravia Church built in 1891. The buildings are furnished according to the time they were built, and are connected by a boardwalk.
Visit the 15 buildings in the Village of Yesteryear for a personalized tour Tuesdays
through Sundays at 1:30 p.m. Tours are $5.00 for adults, students ages 7-16 $3.00,
and children under the age of 6 free with an adult. Allow 1 1/2 hours. Tours available from May 1st through September 30th.
